Alexander Brashkin

Alexander Brashkin

Alexander Brashkin Alexander Brashkin has also been known as 'Freak-On' in Russia, where he worked mostly on mural paintings. He has participated in several international festivals and shows including Death In The Modern Art in Moscow.  Alexander Brashkin has moved his career from a street graffiti artist to exploring rather traditional medium such as canvas and paper.

Alexander Brashkin’s work follows the misanthropic tradition of artists in history; Bosch, Bruegel, Goya, and Š¢chelitchew. His subject matter lays on fantasies and legends that excite curiosity.  He plays with the border of virtue and vice in reality.

The feeling of hopelessness in his work is deepened by his monochromatic manner. But as the monstrous creatures take an active part in the world, the world is not perceived as dead ruins of lost civilizations, but as a world existing somewhere. It is worth paying attention to the relations with compositions of all works: the main object is shown on the foreground, and the background contains urban landscapes with nightmarish visions. Viewing his work provokes reflections of fragility of the human being. Alexander Brashkin only finds it possible to show the madness of the system by exaggerating the evil figures in which good loses its value.
