Dave White

Dave White uses 21st Century Pop imagery with a unique expressionist style exploring popular culture. White only paints things he is interested in and works created by the artist have included depictions of anything from trainers to cars, aeroplanes and tanks. Dave White is perhaps best known for his Super Heroes and Villains series which perfectly captures the essence of comic book characters, and is graphic but with the expressive, gestural energy that can be found in all of Dave White's works.

Bang Bang! was the first work Dave White created for his Planes, Tanks and Automatics exhibition with Opus Art at the Truman Brewery, London in 2008. The graphic image, benday dots and text is a nod to 1960s American Pop artists, most notably Roy Lichtenstein, but the gestural mark making, texture and drips lend the work an immediacy and expressiveness. It features diamond dust and is hand-finished with chrome paint along the barrel of the gun, making each one essentially unique.

Dave White was born in Liverpool and graduated with a Fine Art BA (Hons) from Liverpool John Moores University. Dave White has exhibited internationally including solo and group exhibitions in London, Newcastle, Frankfurt, Miami, Barcelona, Budapest, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, New York, Seoul, Los Angeles, Shanghai and Beijing.

Dave White has featured in many publications including the Wall St Journal, Art Review, The Daily Telegraph, Creative Review, Time Out, The Evening Standard, The Los Angeles Times, GQ Magazine and Elle Magazine. Dave White’s artworks can be found in several corporate collections such as Nike, Coca Cola, Converse and Rocafella Records.
