Lucie Bennett

(9 Jan 2006 - 4 Feb 2006)

Lucie Bennett

Lucie Bennett’s work presents potent images of women in varying guises: haunting sirens, alluring pin-ups and supernatural nymphets. The works play absorbing games with the viewer’s preconceptions of these deceptively familiar archetypes. The imagery challenges the viewer, although her women can be elusive and oblivious to the viewer’s gaze, seemingly existing in an other worldly space beyond the flawless surface of the paint.

Bennett was featured on BBC's acclaimed series 'The Apprentice' in March 2005. She is one of the country's leading young artists, with commissions including Selfridges and House of Fraser. Lucie's solo exhibition at Opus will include a newly published series of 10 limited edition screenprints as well as a selction of original paintings.
